**Midtempo Radio** is a solo, non-commercial, automated radio station based in Russia, created by Chris as a personal project that dates back to 1995. The station uses a purpose-built audio-analysis system to select and blend tracks in real time, reading key, tempo, intensity, mood, and harmonics to create seamless transitions between songs—no playlists, no schedules, and no audience tracking. The music library is deliberately eclectic, spanning blues, electronic, ambient, soul, hip-hop, swing, folk, dub, R&B, psychedelia, jazz, funk, and reggae, with a focus on graceful, unpredictable sequencing rather than genre-cliché mixing. Broadcasting in English, the station is free of ads and sponsorship, self-funded by its creator, and offers an iPhone app, with an Android app promised soon. Its "Midtempo" name reflects a comfortable, Sunday-afternoon DJ vibe, aiming for an elegant, effortless flow that feels professionally curated yet full of surprises.
