About This Station

Paekakariki 88.2 FM is a community radio station in New Zealand, broadcasting in English. It is supported by the organisation Groundtruth, which provides transmission equipment and technical assistance. The station features a unique element: when not airing scheduled community broadcasts, it transmits a live audio feed of birdsong recorded 24/7 from a listening station on nearby Kapiti Island. This project operates with the support of Ngāti Toa and the Department of Conservation.
